This all-in-one package provides everything you need to become a licensed unarmed security guard in New York State.

Step 1: Take the 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Course (required before applying for your Security Guard Registration Card with the NYS Department of State).
Step 2: After completing the course and passing the exam, we’ll help schedule your fingerprinting and guide you through the application process.
Step 3: Within 90 days of employment, complete the 16-Hour On-the-Job Training Course.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• S. citizen or resident alien
• Valid photo ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.)
• High school diploma or GED
• Must complete fingerprinting and pass a background check

Important Notes:

• Fingerprints must be submitted within 5 months of application, or the process must be repeated.
• NYS charges a separate $36 processing fee.
• This package is for unarmed guard licensing only.
• After licensure, you must complete the 8-Hour Annual In-Service Training every year to remain in good standing.
