Description
To meet New York State licensing requirements, all security guards must complete the 16-Hour On-the-Job Training Course within 90 days of employment.
This two-day course is held live via Zoom, typically on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and covers key topics such as:
- Security guard roles and responsibilities
- Legal powers and limitations
- Emergency response
- Access control
- Communication & public relations
- Ethics & professional conduct
- Incident command system
- Terrorism awareness
- The best practices for responding to all types of emergencies
- How to properly communicate via handheld radio
- How to properly relate to the public
- The best practices regarding access control procedures
- The importance of complying with code of conduct protocols
- The responsibility of being ethical at all times while on duty
To successfully complete the course, students must pass a final exam. A certificate of completion will be issued upon passing.
Note: You must complete the 8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training before enrolling. Both courses can be booked separately or bundled together as a package.
This course is for unarmed security guard licensing only and is fully approved by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).
