In addition to our pre-assignment and on-the-job training classes, we also offer the NYS required 8-hour annual in-service class. This class provides security guards with the opportunity to refresh their skills and stay up-to-date on the latest industry trends and best practices.

New York State Training Requirement For Security Guards
All security guards are required to complete an 8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course prior to applying to the Department of State for a Security Guard License.
In addition, a 16 Hour On-the-Job Training Course for Security Guards must be completed within 90 days of initial employment as a Security Guard.
Annually, all Security Guards must complete an 8 Hour In-Service Training Course to maintain their license.

Minimum Requirement to Obtain a New York State Security Guard License
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must be a US citizen or Alien Resident of the US.
- You must pass an FBI background check with no serious convictions or felonies.
- You must complete and pass a NYS mandated eight hour Pre-Assignment course at a NYS Approved Security Guard Training School.
- Once you have met the NYS training requirements you can apply for your Security Guard License
